C Uday Bhaskar

Commodore C Uday Bhaskar, Director, Society for Policy Studies, New Delhi is a retired Indian Navy veteran with 37 years of service and the rare distinction of having headed three think-tanks. Earlier, he was the Director of the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (2004 - 2005)and the National Maritime Foundation (2009-2011).

Bhaskar was appointed as Member-Secretary (2005-2006) of the Government of India Task Force on 'Global Strategic Developments' - a report submitted to the Prime Minister of India.

Bhaskar was editor of the journals - Maritime Affairs and Strategic Analysis and has served on the Editorial Board of Contemporary Security Policy (USA). He has contributed to 100+ books, articles, and journals in India and abroad. He is also a regular op-ed contributor to the print/web/audio media and hosted a weekly show on national TV.

Recipient of the Vishist Seva Medal (VSM) and the Prime Minister's Letter of Commendation, he is a Life Member of the United Service Institute (USI). He is on the Advisory Panel of the India International Centre (IIC) and the India Habitat Centre (IHC) in New Delhi.
